01The territory

Jin Sakai fights to free the island of Tsushima from invasion. You ride between villages, shrines and forts, following foxes, golden birds and the wind itself to find new places.

02Who should travel here

Players who want a beautiful, cinematic open world with clear goals and very little screen clutter.

AThe Guiding Wind

Swipe the touchpad (or the matching PC key) and the wind blows towards your target. Trees, grass and leaves all point the way. It is the most elegant navigation system in any open world.

BNature as signposts

Yellow birds lead you to points of interest, foxes to shrines, and smoke columns mark places worth investigating. You rarely need to open the map at all.

CIki Island

The Director's Cut includes Iki Island, a smaller second map with its own story, reached by boat in the second act.

Worth the trip

  • Brilliant marker-free navigation
  • Stunning landscapes
  • Fast travel and loading are very quick

Rough ground

  • Side activities repeat
  • PEGI 18 violence

Surveyor's verdict

The best-looking ride in open-world games, with navigation everyone should copy.
