Sheet 04 of 12
Death Stranding Director's Cut
A walking game that is really about planning a route. Every hill, river and rock on the map matters.

01The territory
Sam Porter Bridges carries deliveries across a broken America, reconnecting cities to a network. You plan routes, balance your cargo, cross rivers and climb mountains, and build roads, bridges and ziplines that other players can use too.
02Who should travel here
Patient players who enjoy routes, logistics and solitude. It is unusual, slow and very rewarding.
AThe map as a tool
You can draw a route on the map before you set off and see how steep it is. Planning around rocks and rivers is the core of the game.
BShared roads
Structures built by other players can appear in your world. A ladder left by a stranger at the right spot is a small, lovely surprise.
CPace
The first hours are slow and story-heavy. Once vehicles and roads appear, the map becomes a place you shape yourself.
Worth the trip
- Truly original idea
- Route planning is deeply satisfying
- Beautiful, lonely landscapes
Rough ground
- Very slow start
- Long cutscenes
Surveyor's verdict
The only open world where the terrain itself is the main character.
